Wayman Academy of the Arts was founded by Rev. Mark L. Griffin in 1999, who still currently serves as Chairman of the Board. WAA was approved as one of Duval County’s first charter schools, and in August 2000, opened its doors to 150 kindergarten through 5th grade students. Having seen two generations of students excel through its hallways, now, in its 20th year of operation, Wayman Academy is continuously striving for academic excellence.
